Little Britain Television Series

There have been many successful television shows like The Mighty Boosh, Whose Line is it Anyway and Dead Ringers that also began life on radio, Little Britain, debatably, is the biggest and possibly most successful of all.

Series one of Little Britain aired on BBC 3 in 2003. The series was then repeated on BBC 2 and, as a result was commissioned a second series. Filmed at Pinewood studios much of the material from the first series was taken from the radio show.

The second series of Little Britain was seen on TV screens in 2004 once again on BBC 3. Two months later the series was re-broadcast in December on BBC One and proved to be very successful. Featuring new characters the show was a hit in the ratings and helped raise the profiles of Matt Lucas and David Williams

Little, Little Britain was a special charity edition of the show for BBC's 2005 Comic Relief. The sketches performed on the show included starring roles from Robbie Williams, George Michael and Elton John who proclaimed to Daffyd Thomas that he was in fact "the only gay in the village".

2005 saw Little Britain debut on BBC One during November and ran for six weeks. Another successful run for Walliams and Lucas, after the series aired viewers were calling for another series.

In 2006 two episodes of Little Britain Abroad aired on BBC One as part of it's Christmas programming. In each of the shows characters were put into situations in different countries.

Little Britain USA, deemed as series four of the show by Walliams and Lucas was announced in 2007 and broadcast on American pay TV network HBO - the Home Box Office. The Americans got their first taste of Little Britain USA on Sunday September 28 which, was broadcast five days later in the UK on BBC One.

Little Britain has had many guest stars during it's run and they include Rob Brydon, Jamie Theakston, Dawn French, Nigel Havers, Peter Kay and David Baddiel to name just a few.

The show has the unmistakable sound of Tom Bakers voice who uniquely delivers the voice over in each episode. The fourth incarnation of Doctor Who, Baker who was born in Liverpool believes that he was chosen due for the role due to his popularity with the shows creators, Walliams and Lucas, "I am now being employed by the children who grew up watching me" In one DVD commentary he mentions that he is Matt and David's favorite of the Doctors'.
